Standard Heater Core for 1955 Chevy 210
Scott, The 1955 Chevrolet standard heaters and deluxe heaters are completely different. The switches and the heater control assemblies are completely different as well as the heater control valve, blower motor and ducting.
The 1955 standard heater has a little control knob on the drivers side of the dash. The 1955 deluxe heater has three heater control levers and cables in the center of the dash mounted in the deluxe chrome plated heater control assembly.
It would be easiest if you found a donor 1955 with a deluxe heater to swap everything into your 1955.
Thanks Mr. Bow Tie that clears it up I have the chrome plated control assembly in my 210 therefore I have a deluxe core and can now get one.
I have the deluxe heater controls on my 55 210 how ever the heater core is supposed to exit out the firewall my core however has the two tubes that face opposite directions. how does this work
Aaron, For an exploded view of the entire 1955 deluxe heater system take a look in the 1955 Factory Assembly manual. It shows pictures of the complete system in detail. CARS INC carries this book, part #3894, $21.00 and in stock. These are very useful when assembling a 1955.

I see deluxe heater cores available but is there anyone that sells standard heater cores (or rebuilt)? Or should I upgrade my heater to a deluxe? I think I saw you answer someone's post that upgrading was possible. Is it a bolt in process? Thanks!
