Rich running new engine

We built a new engine .060 350 eagle rotating assemble with an edelbrock 2098 upperend assemble. Deamon 600 carb, new MSD ignition. We cannot get this engine to quit running rich. Tried 3 different carbs, hotter plugs & everything anyone could think of and get no change. When you start this engine the plugs immediatly turn black. We are totally lost on what to look for.

You need to tune the idle circuit. On a Holley it's the power valve that would have to go to a lower number. On an Edelbrock you would put in a lighter step up spring. I'm sure Demon is very similar to the Holley. I would think 4.5 or 6.5 power valve would get you in the ballpark. Power valve should be 2 numbers lower than the vacuum reading at idle (in gear if auto)

Thanks Mickey, we will try it.

We figured out that the demon carb really is a demon to this fussy engine. 3 demons same problem, put on a new edelbrock carb, plugs cleared up & engine runs like a sweetheart now.
