Fuel gauge 66 Impala
Dougie. Most common problem with a sending unit is a bad ground. The brown ground wire must be attached tightly to a clean, bare piece of steel, free from rust, paint, clear coat, powder coat and any other coating.
You may also want to check your gauge in the dash.
I had to tweak the float arm and is reading ok now. Thanks for your reply.

I put a new sender unit in my tank but it reads to low. When I took it out and tried it, it worked fine. Put it back in and no good.
