i just purchase some fender skirts for my 1964 chevy impala, the rims i have now don 't clear the fender skirts . What is the stock rim size that clear the fender skirts ?

Mr. Bowtie

Juan, The Factory offered 14×5 and 14×6 wheels for 1964 on the Impala, Bel Air, Biscayne, and wagon. You could of ordered either size, when the car was new. Also the Police/Taxi cars were offered with 15×5 inch wheels.

I hope this helps you.

Sorry to ask this question again, so you mean to tell me that a 14×6 rim will clear the fender skirts on my 64 chevy impala , im' goin 14 because I have the original hubcaps

Mr. Bowtie

Juan, 14×6 steel wheels were original rims for the 1964 Impala. However remember about wheel offset, the measurement from the back side of the wheel mounting edge to the back side of the outer rim lip.

Different wheel offsets will move the wheel closer to, or farther away from the car.

Always measure the wheel you plan to use before purchasing it. If you are using stock, original steel wheels, then they will fit, otherwise measure the wheels you plan to install.

I saw your this post as I was searching for information. I was wondering what is the biggest size rim and tire combo I can go with a 1964 impala without having to change the wheel wells. I would like to just bolt on rims. I have heard I can go 18 by 8 rims with tires in the front being 245 – 18– 40 and the rear 245–18–45 without having to change the wheel wells, is this true?
